Best BBQ Places In Dallas

If you’re in Dallas, you know BBQ is the thing to do. Home to some of the best BBQ places in the world, here are some of the top places from big name to hole-in-the-wall.
1. Pecan Lodge
It’s rare not to find a line of hungry natives and locals who know the kind of BBQ Pecan Lodge serves up. Many Yelpers will tell you to try the Hot Mess, a sweet potato smothered with brisket and fixings. Aside from that, the pork ribs, pulled pork, and side dishes (like Fried Okra and Mac N Cheese) are to die for. Flavors are robust and meats are smoked perfectly. It’s not uncommon for them to run out of meats so come 15 minutes before they open to make sure you get to try what you want!
2. Spring Creek BBQ
Spring Creek BBQ is always bustling with hungry patrons looking to get their fixing of BBQ. With several locations around the DFW area, you can find a Spring Creek BBQ in just about every major area. They serve up outstanding brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausages. Starting at $9.95 a plate, it’s very reasonably priced considering the homemade sides (corn, green beans, baked beans, cole slaw, potato salad) are bottomless. Oh, and not to mention their fresh baked rolls they bring around every few minutes in a large basket. You simply cannot leave this place hungry. You will be full and happy by the time dessert comes around – and no, you don’t want to mis that either – Peach cobbler with a generous scoop of Ice Cream. Leave some space, get a togo box if you have to (which incidentally they give out even when the sides are refillable).
3. Lockhart Smokehouse
Lockhart serves up a mighty BBQ in a very Texan ambiance. You’ll feel like you’re in Texas for sure. The chicken, brisket, spare ribs, pork chops, pulled pork, sides (Mac & Cheese, Baked beans) are must-haves. They even explain and serve some of the finest local beers to go with your BBQ. On the side, they offer Texas “Napkins” (or white bread) to complement your delicious savory meat and side dishes. The meats are moist and delicious, the ribs fall off right from the bone, and the sauce is raved by hundreds of reviewers. If you make it through with a tiny bit of room, don’t forget the Chocolate Bread Pudding.
4. Rudy’s BBQ

Rudy’s used to be the place to go for college students traveling back and forth from Austin to Waco or Dallas until locations started sprouting up in DFW since 2014. It’s no surprise it’s a popular BBQ place for the average joe – with outstanding meats and sides at a reasonable price. The popular moist brisket is the meat to start with which can then be accompanied by one of the sausages and/or rack of fall-off-the-bone ribs. The cream corn is a must side dish to get. But other options like the mixed bean salad, the green chile, or beans are delicious choices as well. And before you check-out, make sure to pick-up a banana pudding from the fridge. Tell the cashier to give you enough bread (white or wheat) to accompany your meal, and be sure to stop by the condiments bar for raw onion, pickles, and jalapenos to compliment your meal perfectly. Lastly, don’t go easy on the BBQ sauce and no matter what you do, don’t use the “sissy” sauce.
5. Woody B’s
Woody B’s is perhaps the least-known BBQ place compared to its rivalry but Woody serves up comparable, if not at times, better BBQ than the big dawgs. Popular for catering, Woody smokes up his brisket, salmon, and meats himself. Having been in the food industry for decades as director of operations for well-known chains in the U.S. and England, Woody retired back in Texas only to find himself smoking meats in his backyard as a family hobby. That hobby quickly turned into a following when people could not get enough of his BBQ. It’s no surprise – the meats are smoked to perfection, the sides are incredibly tasty, and best of all… the prices are fair. When you cater with Woody B’s, Woody himself always shows up with a friendly smile to complement his amazing BBQ. Definitely a must-try especially for your next party or get-together. Woody B’s will not disappoint your guests.
